EU Gender Equality Strategy 2026-2030

While the EU has made progress in gender equality over recent decades, gaps remain, especially in the workforce. Women are more likely to be in lower paid roles and are underrepresented in leadership positions.

To address this, the European Commission launched the Gender Equality Strategy 2026-2030 on March 5, 2026. The strategy sets out steps to improve equality in areas such as education, healthcare, and employment. It builds on the previous 2020 to 2025 strategy and the 2025 Roadmap for Women’s Rights.

This new strategy also addresses new threats such as online abuse, anti gender narratives, and risks linked to AI. More importantly, the strategy takes an intersectional approach, combines gender mainstreaming with targeted actions, and encourages men and boys to take part as partners and beneficiaries.
